I collect Kenneth J. Lane in all his forms, and these are older bracelets he did, the frogs and the turtles. Love them. This is the anniversary present I bought for myself from eBay, just handed it to Big Daddy and told him to put it away for the main event. This was months before the date and he was frantically searching for it when I reminded him I had given it to him for safe keeping.
After sleeping for a few days, I was looking to start my retirement and viewing a dirty house at the same time. I let the cleaning service go and now I am wondering why I paid them and what the hell they actually did. And these people were not cheap.
Yesterday BD told me one of his work mates had a leak underneath his brand new vehicle and he was pissed. I inquired where this leak might be, and could he tell me the color of the fluid. Oh yea, another one of my hellish problems. Reminded why I retired. One less bell to answer, one less egg to fry . . . just thankful I don't need to answer this one.
Today we had a dog vs cat rumble, these are quite frequent and totally non violent. I think they are falling in love.
I just got a smarter phone and accessories. Big Daddy is so excited he has new toys to play with. I also got a blue tooth necklace. This is for my new jobs (yes, that is plural), more to come on that later. I really did not want one, but Verizon convinced me they were so much better than the ear piece. I always called them the auto plant necklace as every factory rat wore one and they were supposedly illegal as hell to wear in the plant. "The company" said they interfered with the systems. My ass, they interfered with the attention span of the worker. Not good for quality.
I am quite taken with the second season of How To Commit A Murder with Viola Davis, I am really loving this show and BD just does not like it. Watched Quantico, too crazy ass for me. And I have to watch American Horror Story to see if I can stomach this one, the clown shit was too much.
Well, I did my first Uber Driver session and it was a disaster, tell you about that next time.

When your stuff breaks
I have 3 broken things now. Yes, the Comcast is still broken and Big Daddy is laying in the sun in Mexico pretending to work while I am slugging it out here in the frozen Motor City. So that one is BD's baby and he will pay for every extra minute I am forced to endure the asshats.
My car is still broken, the auto start, but now I am thinking my Verizon phone is also on the fritz. When I called people on the Sync in the car it starting calling what I thought was random people. I am now thinking it called the last call made regardless of my voice instruction. I thought it was the Sync. Now I am thinking it is the phone as it happened again when I made the call from the phone.
Maybe this is a multi virus situation and I am just a growing infection of crap.
Tomorrow it is supposed colder than cold and 50 mile an hour wind gusts. They expect the electric to go out. I think this might be a snow day. I have new respect for Pearl and the Minnesota peeps who live in this weather year after year. I think it is because their brains are frozen and have never really thawed out.

Adjusting to the new norm
That is what we have been saying since 2009, just an acknowledgement that things will never be the same. Times changed for sure and some of the changes are for the good really. People are no longer strapped to the "company" out of fear or for unrequited loyalty.
My big adjustment to the last plant was to change from my long time phone carrier so I could receive phone calls in the plant. I also went high tech for me with the Jet Pack and a Mophie, I had WiFi and charging capabilities anywhere-anytime. The good part about that is my cell phone now works pretty good at my house. But I am not gonna carry that laptop case over my shoulder into these new plants, too heavy for a very long walk, and no place to leave them safely, so they won't be stolen, in the plants.
So tada, Big Daddy is out today doing what he does best, finding me a new appliance for work. I am looking for a smaller tablet that will work with the Jetpack and can be carried in a back pack. Then I need the perfect lightweight backpack. BD has a free one he got from his company when he was in India, but I don't like it for long term. He is checking out the Nexus 7, the iPad mini, and the Samsung Galaxy. I don't need a lot of data storage or graphics, but I don't want to replace it every year either.
My haircut is spectacular. I was starting to love it as she blew it out and at the end one of the assistants wandered over and exclaimed it was fabulous and very youthful. And this gal rarely talks to me. You know she had me at the youthful, but it does look great and although it will take 30 minutes until I get used to it-it should last for 2 days minimum. And I have lost 10 pounds so I do look a little better.

The lost weekend
Sunday evening and they are still working.
Friday evening we had a thunderstorm. Sunday evening about bedtime out electricity finally came back on. We did not have fun this weekend. It was hot and sweaty and sleeping was horrible. We were the last sector to have the power restored.
We found out Big Daddy really hates paying for Starbucks coffee when the clerk makes fun of him for not knowing the size of the containers. We then switched to gas station coffee. We have the cleanest refrigerator ever as we had to throw most everything out. We are out of clothes.
I got the ugly shoes for the wedding, I got highlights for my ugly hair and I am getting my dress hemmed for the rehearsal dinner. I have to check on the truffles for shipping and I have a couple deliveries I am waiting for.
All my appliances arrived and I am in heaven. My Razr phone is great and works in the plant and a little better than my Sprint phone at home. I have a Jet Pak for Internet and a juicy thing for charging. I also have the phone synced for the car and I love it.
Gotta get home and start laundry, then I can tell you fun stuff next time I can post.

A first for me
I worked 1.5 hours overtime and will get paid for doing so. I am so damn pleased. I used to work all the extra hours for the same price as working 40, and this feels so much better. I keep humming that Money, Money, Money song. I would look it up and post it, but I am exhausted.
I bought a new phone over the Internet yesterday, my Sprint phone does not work at the house and at the plant so what good is it? I am getting a Razr (sp) from Verizen with a bunch of toys. We will see if this works out. Verizen is overnighting it to Big Daddy's work as his admin will sign for it. And he promised not to do more than just charge it up.
I have shoes and underwear for the wedding so I believe I am done shopping. I need to get a dress hemmed and that is that.
The Mormons are slowly trying to move back into the fire house, we have new Slavs and otherwise the neighborhood is quiet.
Need to eat dinner and start it all over again tomorrow, with less drama I hope. I will have to describe the nightmare at work, it is really hilarious.

The day after
Well the fireworks were mild in my opinion, although it is an opinion formed by the exuberant fireworks in Shanghai. Sammy was restless but not too bad although the noise continued well after midnight.
My road trip went well and my boss talked a lot about how things are handled and how support works so well worth my time. He also alluded to Mr. No Fun getting on people's nerves with his weird attitude. If it is not happening to you it is hilarious and he did a fantastic mimic of him.
I think the Big Boss has been neglecting some duties and I was sent the long discussed contract to sign and return. I was pleasantly surprised to see that anything over 40 hours is time and a half. That is the worst part of this job, there is OT and it is random and almost always a surprise. Now to be able to sit/stand/whatever and repeat the mantra "big money" will make it so much more pleasant.
I spent over an hour talking to my Sprint representative explaining that I have between one and no bars on my phone. We went through the zero value added rebooting and adding and all kinds of bullshit and at the end I still had zero to one bar. At one point he tells me to get next to a window. I did not blow and tell him what a ridiculous requirement that would be to be able to use a phone-I told him I was next to an 8 foot doorwall on 2 sides and it was the biggest window in my house. So at the end of the day he has declared that my 1 year old phone from Sprint is a piece of shit and I need to go to the Sprint store and get my face slapped for wasting his time. I am hopeful Verizon will be better and the transition will be somewhat painless. That will be next week or next month.
For today, rain, rain go away.
