People need to lose weight and celebs could help dammit

Gross picture of freezing warts. I had these tiny warts, I did not know what they were, and they irritated me. I was always playing and scratching and just could not leave them alone. Finally I went to the dermatologist and she froze them. It hurt like the dickens for a long time. A long time.

Well yesterday I went out for the first time since March 2. I drove Big Daddy to the eye surgeon to have his cataracts looked at. This was about a 30 minute drive with no traffic and we had the first appointment of the day. It was a beautiful day, 55 degrees and bright sunshine. Parking lot was wide open with only a few cars for staff here and there. I parked kinda back and in the middle so I could see the entry day but away from the few cars. No need to get too close to anyone.

Now one of the things they are telling us is that we could use some sunshine. And some exercise. And stay the hell away from each other.

So with my wide open view I watched everyone who came after me vie and struggle to get in the front row closest to the door. Parking was tight, so tight many had to try a few times to get into their tiny slot. As they shuffled in, and I am not kidding no one walked with purpose or ease-actually some of them seemed to be stiff and not used to walking-I noticed every one of them was overweight. The very thing that is the worst for Covid 19 survival. None of these people were obese, just too much fat.

I think the needed change is going to take more that just lip service. Everyone had on masks and gloves. But parking close is ingrained. Walking is not. Getting in quick, not enjoying the sunshine and pretty weather. Cramming into the first row instead of spreading out. Maybe the celebs should do some PSAs on this stuff.

Although I must say as you had to go in, check in and go back out to your car to wait at least they had to walk the little short distance twice. And bang each others car doors twice. And we will talk about those nasty gloves next time.

The sunshine is a motivator

Preserving the lemons, 12 to a jar.

The sunshine came out this afternoon. I am astonished.

Big Daddy is out shopping for me, he is a good man.

While I was in China I found a great recipe for chicken thighs that we could never make. That is because it required boneless chicken thighs, not possible in China, and preserved lemons. We found the preserved lemons here at Farms Fresh Market and at two lemons in a jar for 6 bucks a jar they were quite pricey. But the recipe was delicious and the lemons were the only expensive part of it. As fast as we found the lemons, also known as pickled lemons, they were no longer available. Everyone was scratching their heads as to why these obscure pickled/preserved lemons were suddenly flying off the shelves.

Dr. Oz.

These pickled lemons are a main ingredient in Moroccan food which "many" are now saying is the key to robust health and long life.

So we pickled our own lemons. Meyer lemons are the best for this exercise. Big Daddy and I fought about that but I explained, Meyer lemons are like blood oranges-short availability. They take about 4-6 weeks to pickle. The pickled lemons last about a year, which would be the fabulous chicken thigh recipe once a month. I am sure we will be trying other recipes and using up our lemons and maybe buying more of the expensive ones, or maybe even trying pickling the common lemons we usually find. It is fun to try new things.

*This is not canning and you need to find a good recipe, my son used "Tart and Sweet", a cookbook and I used a recipe off the Internet.

Blinding Sunshine

Sunrise in West BFE

All I can see is the snow.

You know we expect people up north and in other out of the way places to bitch about snow and cold this time of year. Those folks signed up for it when they agreed to live in the frozen tundra spots. Those of us south and west of Lansing expect better this time of year.

WHEW PSA for the ladies

Well I have finished my medical care for this week. My echo stress test went well and if there is anything it may be the old prolapsed Mitral Valve, so no biggy. And I did not have to wait at all, walked in early and was taken immediately. Then the lady parts doctor and again no waiting, in and out in 40 minutes. And there was a lot of conversation at the lady doctor, she has changed her hairstyle. And I learned something new. Female Information Alert . . . there are these wipes for both areas down there and my doctor shrieked Never, Never, Never use those products. I mentioned the one said it was specifically for itching and she was back to the never, never. Itching is a normal symptom of menopause and it can turn into a "condition" if not treated properly and the preservatives in the wipes can worsen the itching and bring on the "condition". In an emergency you can get 1% hydra cortisone from the drug store. I have a prescription. No more wipes. Ever.

My phone is broken. I do not have a clue how this happened and I am dreading telling Big Daddy as we will have to have phone appliance discussions. I hate those conversations. So no pictures until the phone is fixed unless I get Punkin Head's camera out again.

Yesterday it was decent for running about, in the mid 50's so no coat needed. Today it is back to cold and it is snowing. I think we are moving into the February gray days, as I recall this is the month for the fewest days of sunlight. Yuck.
