All Good Things must come to an End

We have not had a serious car accident in quite some time, until Friday afternoon. Big Daddy had to avoid a car that ran a red light and his evasive action landed him right on the "bumper" of an old well- built truck.

It even cracked the windshield.

Things we learned, on this car when the battery is gone so are the door locks and the ability to open the trunk. When you have just left Costco with your trunk stuffed full of stuff, well it now becomes a project to open the trunk through the escape hatch. Thank goodness the lease on this car is up in less than 6 months. But our rental car coverage is only good  for one month and I don't think we are gonna make it to the end without having to pay extra. Thank goodness we have the means to pay.

But, seriously you could not open the door to get out and if that accident had started a fire, well BD would have been toast. And the airbag never went off. And we both think it should have at the speed and angle of the contact. Does not make me happy. BD will follow up with the insurance company.

Work is worse than ever and I have never ever seen anything this bad. I have refused to work over the holiday shutdown and we will see how that works out. I did get a special lunch and recognition last week for doing a great job. I had to chuckle, it was almost a special pat on the back for not quitting this nightmare and becoming a professional greeter.

We now know our Polish cleaning lady is laughing her ass off at us. For some reason last night BD was turning and tossing and found a zipper on the silk bed cover he brought back from Mysore, India. It is not a bed cover it is a duvet cover and we look like the Clampetts. WTF.

The fountain of old

This is Don's fountain.

Big Daddy got Don's fountain running this weekend. Don is the guy that built this house and used to be our ghost. He has not been around lately. When we moved in and figured out the house was haunted it just seemed like needlessly making changes would piss Don off. So we fixed the fountain and painted it and decided to use it until we found a replacement. That was in the early 90's.

Punkin Head came for dinner and BD made him salmon and grilled pineapple and his famous no mayo potato salad, all was good.

They traded presents, PH got him handmade cufflinks from New Orleans streetcar tokens and he showed him the Roku set up on the TV, BD never noticed it. BD gave the boy his silk tie and elephant picture from Mysore. First the Lucky Cat from China and now the Lucky Elephant from India. Double lucky.

I am hopeful to figure out the Netflix thing.

I can't make this shit up

For many years we have lived with the fact that Big Daddy looks quite a bit like Dick Cheney. They could be brothers. TSA has remarked how much he looks like Cheney while wanding him at the airport. Gennifer Flowers called him Dick Cheney at her nightclub. It goes on and on.

Well today BD was at the temple or palace or whatever in Mysore, India and yep-it happened again. He was approached by a group of trainee soldiers wanting their picture taken with BD. When they were finished they thanked Mr. Chinny. Yep, they thought he was Dick Cheney. This time however he got the full celebrity treatment. Apparently the Indians are star struck for any famous person and they mobbed BD for pictures. The soldiers video taped him and the driver said that was the most pictures ever taken of a faux celebrity. The runner-up is some guys wife named Angie who they thought was Angelina Jolie. She ran and hid, avoiding the big mob scene.

BD got some great shopping bargains, which will be detailed later, and sore feet from walking the palaces without shoes. He ruined one pair of flight socks.

He had a fabulous lunch at one of the palaces that was converted into a resort and KFC for dinner. It kills me no matter where you go there is a KFC.

Pictures to follow as soon as he uploads them, but Punkin Head found a picture of the Mysore Palace at night on the Internet and it is a huge and gorgeous place. Punkin Head is at the music venue downtown this weekend so he spent the night here. The Greektown Casino Hotel told him that no outside beverages are allowed to brought into the hotel so he is smuggling his in my Trader Joe's insulated grocery bag, it has a zipper.
