We call her Curly now

As you can see I do not have any pics worth putting on the blog.

Punkin Head is shopping for a birthday bike, he asked everyone who loves him enough to give him money to contribute to a new bike. He will be using it for transportation and sport so I thought it was a good idea. He is also packing up as they will move at the end of the month.

I bought Curly, that is my granddaughter, a book. It is hard to not spend money on this dear child not even born yet. There is just too much cute stuff. But a book, books are always a good idea.

PH was telling, and don't ask how we got on this subject, they have a once a year wiener dog race at the horse track in Portland. I thought he was bullshitting me, but when I Google wiener dog racing it seems it is very popular. I would think it would take days for those short little legs to get them anywhere much less around a track.

We went shopping Saturday after my pedicure and I hit a great sale at Chico's. Cotton summer pants for 19.99 that I can wear to work. It is hard to find summer work pants as I cannot wear capris and I need something that is not super casual. And I found 2 other pair I got for buy one get one half off. And I can wear them on vacation before wearing them out at the plant.

Kind of boring right now but only a week and a half til vacation. And 7 working days. I can do that.

There is to be a wee bairn

Punkin Head called and told me I am to be a Grandmama, how sweet is that?

I am thinking of all the ways to spoil the child and make her/him my own little special treat and I know everyone who hears the news is thinking exactly the same thing. Babies are a wonderful thing for all of us to enjoy.

I need to start buying books for the nursery.

This is a great Christmas present, the best ever, a little piece of all of us coming in July as a unique and precious person for us all to love.

Doing the happy dance.

The Weekend Snippets

Friday morning was pedicure time and wouldn't you know it we had a snow storm. An unpredicted snow storm. They said a flake or two and I had 4 inches on the front of my car in 90 minutes. Big Daddy cleaned it off before he left and I still had a mess. That reminds of a past snow cleaning. I was in Tennessee on a business trip and our return flight was delayed due to the weather. It was a bad snowstorm and we were flying into Detroit Metro rather late at night. It was extremely cold and all the cars were buried under a massive amount of snow at Airlines Parking. All except mine. Big Daddy had traveled to the lot and scraped the snow off my car. I don't know how he convinced the people he was not parking only scraping but he did. And I was teased for awhile on that one.

Saturday was hair day and we altered the front a bit so I look less like a crone and friendlier, still blond blond of course.

We made a new recipe from our Christmas present to ourselves cookbook, Screen Doors and Sweet Tea, pimento cheese. And it is delicious. I cannot wait to eat it today. And we are making lasagna which I have not made in 4 or 5 years so that should be interesting. Saturday we had duck cassoulet and it was divine.

BD is now hooked on House of Cards, that is such a good show. TV is boring right now, Survivor and Swamp People. Nashville returns next week.

I just finished The Beach Trees, a book by Karen White and it was pretty good. Murder mystery in the south both Biloxi and New Orleans are featured. Next I am reading Private Berlin by James Patterson. I am ordering A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy, I did not know there was one left to publish after she died. I just adore her books.

Next, our music story.

Cleaning up my thoughts

This is Big Daddy's favorite clock in the world, it is at his mom's house. It is very old and has a lot of wooden gears and mechanisms. It has been in the family forever. It was in the original farmhouse and he thinks his great grandfather acquired it but he does not know the story. BD remembers as a boy there were about 15 clocks and that every day he would help his grandpa wind them up.

Goodness I just looked at that title and cracked up. I meant to say finishing up with any stray thoughts, but I will leave the title because it made me laugh.

These are just a few of the antique books, I think this might explain Punkin Head's interest in Library Science. I still have a few books here he borrowed and they are still in my little book case.

Watched Liz&Dick on a repeat showing Monday night. I went to bed halfway through the movie. I feel sorry for "Lilo" as they call her. Who the hell thinks they can portray Elizabeth Taylor so soon after her death. Especially if you have no bosom.

So I have run out of things to say today. Except Pearl left a comment yesterday about DVD's at pawn shops. I asked Big Daddy if he thought that was true and he said it could be, they are worth a lot more here than in China. I may have to check out our local pawn shop which I believe is on the TV as a smarmy show. I went into the local pawn shop in China, it was not far from my apartment. They had very small items  very carefully displayed, kinda like a tacky Saks if you can picture it. The prices were quite high but I thought that could reflect not seeing gold and diamonds in China very often. I never asked to see anything as I had no interest in purchasing so I don't know what they would have taken versus the asking price. Thanks Pearl, a new adventure The Pawn Shop.
